Precautions
Before starting Sunitinib treatment, patient should tell doctor about any other medications if he or she is taking (including prescription, over-the-counter, vitamins, herbal remedies, etc.). Patient should not take aspirin, products containing aspirin unless doctor specifically permits this.
Patient should avoid the herbal preparation St. John’s wort (may increase metabolism and decrease Sunitinib concentrations).
Patient should not receive any kind of immunization or vaccination without doctor’s approval while taking Sunitinib.
Patient should inform her health care professional if she is pregnant or may be pregnant prior to starting this treatment. Pregnancy category D (may be hazardous to the fetus. Women who are pregnant or become pregnant must be advised of the potential hazard to the fetus.)
For both men and women: Use contraceptives, and do not conceive a child (get pregnant) while taking Sunitinib. Barrier methods of contraception, such as condoms, are recommended.
Do not breast feed while taking Sunitinib.
DRUG INTERACTIONS
CYP3A4 Inhibitors: Consider dose reduction of Sunitinib when administered with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors.
CYP3A4 Inducers: Consider dose increase of Sunitinib when administered with CYP3A4 inducers.
